To whomsoever needs to read this:
I don’t know from the back of which cereal packet you get your advice to not
engage in dialogue with me. But you might recognize it, as I do, as your old
behaviour of sticking your head in the ground and pretending there is no
problem, then perhaps it will go away. Like the child putting their hands over
their eyes to hide. I imagine that’s why the advice is so attractive to you,
because it’s what you’ve always done. I’ll write it out for you:
- Unconditional love from the in-group (replace the family).
- Discredit alternative opinion (everyone in the out-group is sick).
- Special rituals (perform regular group supplication gestures).
- No responsibility for your actions (give yourself to a higher power)
It’s a standard cult strategy.
